Cant say we were after trout because we werent.. We almost couldnt buy a bass bite when my buddy hooks into something rather large. Thinking its maybe a huge bass or a catfish ( i had caught a catfish about 10 mins before) but when it finally gets close to the surface we both sat there stunned in awe.. I swear both of us got the shakes !

One of the rarest fish in the big O... A german brown ! Caught on a freaking gitzit

Video says it all, Warning there is a bit of foul language because well.. im not a refined person and was pretty caught up in the moment. Absolutely beautiful fish but beat up, Looked like typical rash from spawning ! So happy to see that, nice and thick too!

One can only hope these fish will back a come back in that lake.. it gives them the potential to grow very very large

Nice brown. You would be surprised by what you can catch on a Getzit. I've got a whole box of them and I've yet to catch a bass with one.

In oroville we catch bass, catfish, coho, rainbows and bluegill on them. The brown though is a rare sight ! you only hear of a handful caught every year but usually by trollers. Never by bass fishermen in 40 feet of water slingin tubes lol

They are one of my favorite baits for sure though. Especially in the color that was used today ;)

Nice job on catch and the release. Cool surprise. I actually have some big tube jigs just for brown fishing.

Sweet score! I was at Lime Saddle yesterday and the water looked nothing like that on the upper end (I am guessing you were on the south side?). Love them Gitzit jigs. I Can't seem to find them that easily anymore..

Yes we were up the south fork. Water was very clear up that way since there is not much in flow. For gitzits go to oroville outdoors, You can buy them in 50 packs ! they are on the pricey end though i think my buddy paid around 66 bucks or so for a 50 pack plus a couple packs of jigheads

All that time spent in open water seems to have made your fish look like a big Argentinean sea-run brown, or Scottish Loch Leven strain. Epic catch, wish they would stock more of those. Thanks for posting.

Try Cabala's, Bass Pro or Sportsman's Warehouse. Shouldn't be that expensive.

I've never been able to find the color we use anywhere but oroville outdoors =\ I think its a custom color someone does. Plus we sometimes go through 20-30 a day during the summer between snags/fish tearing them up =\

Ah just found them on OO's website. 20 bucks for a 50 pack, i think he bought 50 jig heads too so that could be why it was so much.
