Nighthawk and I went South on 395 to hit the West Walker oince again. Our first stop was mid canyon. The temp was in the mid 20s with little wind. When the sun hit the water it warmed quickly. The fish were still there but somewhat more educated. On the plus side they seemed bigger. Tom and I got 5 fish between us all between 4 - 5 pounds. The fish came on Copper Johns and gold/black Panther Martins. I actually got one quite by accident on Tom's fly outfit. Tom, who was fishing down stream of me, Got his Copper John hung on a rock? He tried to get it loose but couldn't. He handed the rod up stream of me so I could try another angle. I pulled a couple of times and if by magic the rock turned into a 5# trout. Tom let me bring it in. First trout on a sissy stick in a couple of years. After fishi9ng the spot for a couple of hours we tried a couple of other spots. We fished the north end of Chris Flats and just south of Walker upstream of the East Side Bridge. We found no more fish. It was a beautiful day and gave us a taste of what is come later in the year. Too Bad the Walker Burger is closed. Thanks for the ride Tom.

Awesome fish and reports coming from you guys on the walker.

I've never fished that area before, but if one were to hypothetically want to have a chance at landing a fish there, would all normal methods of stream trout fishing work? Roe bouncing and what not on top of spoons and the usuals would work or is it a stretch of river that is exclusively artificial and barbless?

I need to get some trout fishing in this year that isn't on the AR for smolts and Elk Grove pond lol.

No roe. It is artifrical lures only with barbless hooks and a limit of zero. Panther Martins, Thomas Bouyants, Super Dupers, small plastics, small raps. The entire river below the 395 bridge to Topaz is special regs.

I think I have some old Buoyants laying around that would need retrofitting so yup, thanks for the info on the regs of the area. Might not be soon, but I do plan on fishing this river in the coming year.

Is Walker Burger closed as in out of business or just seasonally?

Also, I believe that the special regs are only through the last Saturday on April.

Waker Burger is closed for the winter. Will re-open in May. Special regs on the W. Walker are from November 16th through the last Friday in April.

No net requirement. Barbless hooks and zero limit is what they say.

"are there any other requirments in that section like using rubber nets or such? or is that the only requiremnt? " Yeah you use the rubber nets on the fishermen that are not catching anything and running around hollering:hissyfit::hissyfit::hissyfit::cop::moon: .....Jetspray
