There's a bait shop located rite near Berkeley pier, they carry Live Bait.. I would give them a call first before heading there.. Good Luck!

If I were you I would troll frozen bait. With it being this early in the season you will want to cover lots of ground. Trolling is always the early season halibut killer!

Which launch ramp is best for this area? I have not fished this area but have been studying the maps. I assume your talking about the Berkeley Marine? . Thanks for the help. :help:

Where are you coming from? All sorts of ramps get you in halibut water.

You can always try and call Loch Lomond bait and there is a launch there. Keith normally has live shiners for sale.

Not sure about Launch fees else where, but Loch Lomond use to be $20. Got to be a cheaper spot to get out on the bay.

San Leandro will out you on the rock wall, candlestick etc.

Berkeley puts you on Alcatraz, Angel island, rock wall, red rock and the flats.

I think Berkeley is $15 but if you go several times a year you can get an annual pass.

Thanks JB14. I'm trying to get a buddy to make the drive with me, would like to run my bayrunner before salmon opener.

$10 cash to launch in richmond. Run over to loch lomond via boat if you want live bait because it will cost you $15 to cross the bridge while towing your boat. best of luck
