Got a call from Untalan1 Saturday evening saying he would be in town a couple of days. He wanted to go fishing Sunday. I told him that the winds have been pretty bad as of late. Winds to 45 mph were predicted. So why not go to Indian Creek?

The day use area and campground opened on Friday so we parked there and walked down to the shore below the campground thinking that it may give us a little shelter from the wind. The wind shifted to due south and was gusting in our face at over 40 mph. We moved a couple hundred yards down the shore and found a small clear spot with more shelter. We fished here for a couple of hours and got 15 trout between us to 15 inches. These were a combination of bows and LCT with all fish coming on 1/4 oz gold Kastmasters. Some young guys were watching Efren catching fish. He hooked one and let one of the kids reel it in.

There were pelicans as usual in the area watching the action. One guy fishing below the ramp shot one with a pellet gun. The one toon fisherman in the area went out and checked out the floundering bird and noted that the wing bone was broken. Senseless cruelty. The bird was not causing any problems. Efren kept three bows for his inlaws. It was nice fishing with you again Efren. Enjoy Spain.

What else do you want? He said a guy checked it out and the wing seemed broken. Not much can be done up there

Maybe a picture of the perp and the license plate of the guy who shot it and then turn it over to the fish and game cops as soon as you get cell phone coverage I just feel we sportsman need to get involved when we see things like that I'm not talking about getting confrontational but we should not be turning a blind eye, shooting a pelican or an eagle for sport is as low as it gets to me I think it is our duty to get involved as best we can if all we can do is gather facts and evidence then that is the least we can do.

So run up to him with your phone? Where they're fishing you can't park at the water. You would have to go into a foot chase to find the guy and his car. No offense to CC but he's no spring chicken anymore. ;)

Neither Efren nor I had a cell phone. The guy in question left very soon after he shot the bird and walked into the canpground. I do have pictures of him and the bird. I obivously did not post them. I'm not a California Game Warden. I don't even live in California. My only option would have tbeen o confront the idiot. Karna works.

It's not worth confronting an idiot. But it's worth sending a pic to Dfg.

If either of them had a phone, it most likely would not get a signal unless they drove to the airport area. Foot chase might end up with a real gun in your face or a knife fight. Or better yet buddies to whale on your behind. There is little law enforcement till you get to Woodford's Station, I'm just sayin':frakenstien::news1nt::rain3pr:........Jetsp ray

Last cell phone call I saw was a guy who locked his keys in the truck. CC drove him to Woodford's Station to get a AAA tow truck to come help. No cell signal nor would his OnStar work either. Lots of time wasted that could have been done fishing......Jetspray

Solar powered tree phone=great idea. It would be a little expensive to run the wire though...I have seen a tree like that on blue lakes rd but havent seen one on airport rd...the only cell service I get is on the east shore a text msg comes through every now and then w Verizon.

Yes that is the Airport I was talking about, when you see the burnt trees the valley has a landing area. It is used mostly by the air crews and helicopter crews for re-fuel and dip water from the lake.........Jetspray
