Guys,

I've taken my boys fishing 6 times this year. ZERO ZILCH NADA SKUNKED.

They are young (6 and 9) and have just about give up on fishing. Looking at the fishing reports for the Sacramento area it looks like Shad may be my best bet. I just want them to have a positive experience. It's dosent; matter what we catch... .as long as we catch something this time LOL.

If anyone could give me a little advice on where to go I would really appreciate it. Freeport? Garcia Bend? Discovery?

Maybe try Verona for shad? That's where I'll be heading this weekend.

I didn't think of Verona. Been a while.

How bad are the Jetskiiers? This will be a tough weekend to fish LOL.

Only weekend I have off in months....So sad.

If you just want to put them on fish check the dfw website and go chase some freshly planted truck trout. Especially if you can find a lake that doesn't allow jet skis or pleasure boating

Miller park section is really good too, don't have much time to fish due to crazy work schedule, managed to go out for 2 hrs yesterday and 2 today after work and landed one, others that were there caught a few. My kids 4 & 6 doesn't have that much patient waiting either so when I got a day off I like to take them go fishing for pan fish, lake Amador, Guard Rd and Barge Canal, Amador have very good size pan fish compared to the other 2 mentioned.

Depending on what size boat you might want to launch out of discovery or Miller. I couldn't get out of Verona or Elkhorn last few times I looked. Water is too low.
