Hi I'm looking to find a decent spot to go catch some trout. I live in the Folsom area. I don't mind driving a couple hours away to catch some trout. And inside tips on what lake or lakes to go to would be greatly appreciate. Thanks

You can try Blue Lakes up by Clear lake. They stock it and the bite comes and goes.

Echo lake is beautiful and free. Great hiking too.

Hamilton Branch, on the east side of Lake Almanor! There is a designated fishing area just south of the bridge over the creek at the mouth of the lake. Park in there and walk down. Find a pool, throw in any minnow imitation and hold on!
Sure, its a bit of a drive (2.5-3hr depending on traffic) but the bit is incredible!!!!!!

I also choose Ice House , lake is at near full and the reports have been good. It fits your criteria of a couple of hours away.
