The last time Farrier Frank and I got together to smoke a little......... ::)fish, was last February shortly after 916 introduced me to this new gas powered jewel. ;) A dozen or so smokin' sessions later FF and I revisited the smoker over Labor Day. *:)

We kept ourselves to fish only instead of fish, ribs and turkey.

We had an interesting collection. Salmon from Ft. Bragg, Macks from HellHole and UVR and Kokes from UVR and HH. [smiley=fishing5.gif]

Other than pullin' them out of the lake and cleaning 'em......welcome to the process......fun at best.......... [smiley=banana.gif]Oh, Meatloaf is always good help ::)

Yup. We ended up with a bunch of smoked fish. What was really interesting was the difference in the macks: The 4 macks I caught a couple of weeks ago in UVR, while fishing with Mickey, were almost halibut-white meat and very mild, probably will get used for fish tacos. The macks IT caught while fishing with Kneedeep in Hell Hole a month earlier were deep red and much stronger in taste. In the past we have discussed the difference in taste of macks on the mack board, mostly the difference between Tahoe macks vs. macks caught over here on the western slopes and the difference in taste was mostly attributed to the difference in feed available. Ironically, Hell Hole and UVR are virtually the same elevation and only miles apart as the crow fly's... and both lakes are fed by the same drainage (kinda). So go figure, but if I could figure out how to target the white meat macks I would fish only for them.

ITIT + Frank *It all looks real good you keep it frozen until then the only fish I have smoked was fresh. I've got a bunch of odds and ends in the freezer maybe I will clean out the freezer and fire up my smoker.
Steve when you said early you weren't kidding, I'm going to work hard to catch up to you, but I think I can do it. ;D To bad that old fart Frank can't come, maybe he just can't keep up with us or something. I talked to Beth this morning she's heading up tomorrow . Sorry for the hyjack
