Jetspray and I had planned to go down to the West Walker on Friday to check out the "Size Doesn't Matter" derby on Friday at noon. Early Thursday morning storms in the upper watershed created flash flood conditions on the W. Walker with water flows rising from 50 CFS to 270 CFS in less than an hour. Flows at the time of tish report are 85 CFS. The people who were holding the derby decided to change the venue from the W. Walker to the Little Walker that is in somewhat better shape. Dave and I decided to go up any way.

Met with Jetspray in the Ranchos at 0530 and headed south. We got to he W.Walker around 0630 to find the river indeed a chocolate mess. We went down stream of the 395 bridge and managed to pull 10 fish from the muck on small plastics and Gulp eggs. There seemed to be lots of small fish around but they had a very soft bite because of the conditions. We thought that maybe upstream at the Sonora Bridge conditions might be better. They were worse. Here it was unfishable. We left the Sonora Bridge at 1000. As we passed the 3 bridges on the Little Walker the crowds were starting to gather. The stocking truck had yet to arrive. Hope they have a good event. The fish will certainly be more concentrated. Thanks for taking me Dave. If there are no more storms I suspect that the W. Walker will clear up by mid next week.

What a Year, My sons gave up on the rainbows this year and focused on the bass population. My oldest son has pulled several 10lbers from local lakes. They just came back from Pardee but It was 107 degree heat. But they managed to have fun. Me, still reading and not doing as of yet. Every time I see these posts I just wanna jump in my truck and go. Then reality sets in and ..............well ya got a violin? ...Anyway ya got out there NICE pics looks HOT

Well you should have came back on Saturday .The fish were more than willing to play below the 395 bridge and in your favorite spot at the boulder. many tags and plenty of jumbo trout . The chamber did an excellent job of working with the conditions JEFF

Yes. In off color water you have to have a little color to get their attention.:7419ne:
