View Full Version : Crabbing out of Tomales 11-16

I expected big crowds on sunday so we arrived earlier than normal at Lawson Landing just so we could beat the rush. We got to the ramp about 6:40 and there was not a soul around. We were boat #1 and only saw a few boats throughout the day despite it being calm seas and warm all day.

All and all it was a pretty good day crabbing. We ended up with limits of nice sized crabs - 6 or 8 "jumbos" and the rest nice keeper sized crab.

We caught most of them at 10 mile but on our way in we set pots in the outer bay and picked up our last 4 of our limit plus a few large rock crabs.

We fished a little and to my surprise caught zero bottom fish. We didn't fish that long but I still was surprised we didn't get any hits!? I loaded up on bottom fish all year and this trip out we didn't have a single hit. We threw swimbaits for a total of about 1 1/2 hours and not a single strike. Oh well. My freezer is already stocked for plenty of wintertime fish tacos.
