Wanting a relaxing NYE away from the idiots, drunks, morons, and essentially the rest of civilization we booked 2 nights at Collins Lake in one of their 30ft trailers. With both of us having appointments before noon we didnt get out of town until 3pm so we arrived at the lake shortly before sunset and didnt even put the boat in the water. Instead, we built a campfire, bundled up and and enjoyed a peaceful NYE.

Thursday morning we didnt launch early, finally enjoying a morning we could both sleep in. Once on the water we trolled, scouted and trolled some more for nothing. After a break for lunch we were back on the water burning fuel for nada until late afternoon. Word from the few at the dock was it was a slow bite all day.

Friday morning I was up and on the water with the sun to find the dock and boat iced over

Dropped 2 lines in as I left the docks and started trolling towards the dam. Port side rod was set with a jointed rapala in firetiger and starboard side was a 3/8oz sliding sinker above a firetiger kastmaster. About 2/3 the way to dam the starboard rod gets slammed and starts peeling line. I no sooner get the rod out of the holder and the port side rod goes off. Nice way to start the day, with a double. First one is on a 5'6"UL on putting up a good fight as I start thinking 3-4lb. Instead Im greeted by this

A little disappointed I grab the second rod hoping for a a second shot. This one is fighting a lot less but hoping its from being drug around the lake for a bit. But once again

Long story short for the rest of the trip we took a big skunk. We top lined, we trolled as deep as we could get with no DR's, we soaked PB, threw wooleys under a bobber, and we tried about every combo in the box. The most consistant fishing was had by bankers with limits of small fish coming from the dam area and some 4-6lbs from the point between the boat ramp and the beach. Water is still stained, full moon over the weekend, or whatever reason but the fish werent biting and they were spread throughout the lake and hard to pinpoint. A few more pics to enjoy

I must have missed that one...http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt45/redneckpunk_fish/sniffer%20pics/170_zpsb5ec9e70.jpg (http://s596.photobucket.com/user/redneckpunk_fish/media/sniffer%20pics/170_zpsb5ec9e70.jpg.html)

I didnt have any more issues than normal starting the motors. The big motor tends to be a b**** no matter what the weather is, but once running shes a screamer.

Well now I see the problem. The fish at Collins bite better for the Bud or Coors crowd right now. The Corona fish wait until the weather warms a little.

Now that's how to ring in the New Year! Personally, I would have been happy with the spotties and would have spent the day drop-shotting.
A good customer of ours owns a bar/restaurant somewhere near Collins and is always telling me to come up. She also owns a strip club in Marysville. Interesting lady.
Thanks for the report. It has further motivated me to check it out. I may even do some fishing!
Happy New Year!
