Don't forget your permits at either Crosby's, the ranger station at the Marina, or one of the local sports shops in the are. You need a camping permit, boating permit and a fishing permit. These are all tribal and not part of Nevada, you will also need to follow the size limitations and be barbless with not scents or baits on the hook (that would include a bait that is impregnated with scent, salt, or oils):old::fish_jumps:..........Jetspray

You can also get them online and print them and take them with you. I agree plastic works too, it is just that there are so many who do not know about the tribal part and seem to forget that when on the reservation. You need to know the rules for sure and they are not kidding around when it comes to speeding and drinking and driving either. I have seen them haul away some that forgot especially on the lake, I'm just sayin'...........Jetspray

My have things changed. It wasn't but 5 or 6 years ago that a 8-10 pound Cutt would place well in the two week President's day tournament. Now with the tourney less than half done only one sub 10# fish can be found on the board. Two 20#+ lead with over two days left to go.

The final is in for the President' Day Tourney, The winner was Travis Lee with a 20# 8.8 oz fish. On the 20 fish leader board 10 of the fish were over 15#. The smallest was over 13#. The big fish are around. ::)

With the looks of all the changes at Pelican, I think Windless Bay may be a better place for RV's and Campers this time. That is until the tribe completes the work at Pelican. Either way I will probably be there sometime on the 9th of April myself:winkfs:..........Jetspray

The location of the Spring Pyramid fest has been changed from Pelican Beach to Windless Bay. Due to construction at Pelican access to the beach for camping is limited and may be closed down to camping sometime in March. The ramp will remain open. The road down to Windless Bay is less than a mile north of Pelican. It is a large beach with ample parking for campers, Motor Homes, boats and tents. There is a two hole outhouse an a couple of smaller outhouses.

I can say that many will have flags and stars on trailers and boats from the old days (me being one who does). Not too many ruffled feathers just a smile and a hand shake will do. Once you find some sniffers you will find friends in a hurry:mat::laugh:........Jetspray

I've heard that the fish are starting to gather. Lots of fish being seen out from the nets from the bouys out to 200 feet deep. Not hitting.... yet. Water temp 50 degrees. The spawn channel opens the end of March and the first egg take on April 7. Sounding good. Okie got two off the shore Wednesday at Pelican.

From Pyramid Lake Fisheries

Yesterday we completed installing the jumps in the Sutcliffe Spawn Channel and ramped up the flows. By 2:00 there were a couple of thousand LCT at the top of the channel. They were ready and raring to contribute to the 2014 year-class of Pyramid Lake monster cutthroat. Our first egg take is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. Today we getting our first Pilot Peak LCT eggs from Lahontan Hatchery in Gardnerville.

The Spawn is on.

Thursday, Friday look to be the best days. Saturday looks bad for the wind. Gusts to over 40 MPH after noon from the west. This could change.

Projected Saturday winds have moderated some. West winds allow you some protection on east facing shore. Can't wait.

That's good news. We got a fair amount of rain last night and it continues to dump randomly.

A west wind would be blowing out from the ramp which might make hand loading a little sketchy but drive on loading shouldn't be too bad.

I'm more concerned about getting my boat and truck sand blasted so I'm bringing along a couple of tarps and my boat cover. I don't know if that will work but it's better than nothing.

Pelican has more room than it did before and most of it has been graded. If it is still open I will set you a place Steve, otherwise Windless will be in order. I just don't see the tribe closing Pelican much between now and June 30th due to the influx of fly guys on the shoreline (big money to the tribe in fees). I will get my 3 day permit for fishing fri, sat, & sun. You might bring one of your good shore set-ups in case of windy conditions, I have extra lures at the ready........Jetspray

It can be a challenge just to get a boat in the water and park your vehicle, and if the wind comes up it is a horse race to see how many boats can get back on their trailers. It is always fun to watch people launch from the sandy beach and get swamped trying to get out of the water (I have stories to tell):smiley_crazy::mind-blowing::jasper::winkfs:............Jetspray
