I came across these "shad spoon" while browsing the internet. They look very interesting and seems like they would be a killer compare to shad dart. Has anyone use them or heard of any success with them?

I don't know anything about these spoons. But, as a teenager in the 1960s, we used to use red & white dardevle lures for trout in the Feather and Yuba rivers. Don't know why they wouldn't still work.

Some guys use those for hickory shad over on the east coast

Saw guys using a weird rig at Freeport once, two shad darts on the bottom and a thin little needlefish spoon as the top lure. Had to be using it for a reason!

With that long shank hook it looks like they could be designed to put a grub body on them.

Used to catch shad in the Feather by drop shotting a small gold or nickel Wob-L-Rite behind the boat. Have also caught a lot with small Monti and Bolo spinners. Hardware will work just fine for these guys.

Seems like California is the last to catch on to techniques that have been used for decades elswhere.
Look up Dick Nite spoons for a start.
