Going into Stockerfest week Nighthawk and I decided to go up and take a look at the Carsons. We had heard that there had been a recent stock on the river. We checked various spots on the West Carson The river was in beautiful early summer form with 63 CFS flows and clear water. We saw a few fish and a few people fishing them. We found out that was stocked a week ago Friday. Next up Hwy 89 to the Hwy 4 bridge on the East Carson. Flows were manageable at 260 CFS with the water a little off color. Tom and I fished awhile below the bridge with no luck. Back to the West Carson where we found a bridge to fish beneath. We fish here for a little over an hour and manage one 21 inch bow and 2 other nice fish lost at the net. Our final stop was at the Hope Valley Resort for a little lunch. I had a cup of coffee and a slice of some of the best Apple Pie in the Eastern Sierra. Good idea Tom. Thanks for taking me. I was a bit down because of all the bad weather.

Some good looking water there, CC.

Most excellent pics, as usual!

Any idea where the Nevada warden was heading in that boat? Seems overkill for the Carsons.

Take care,

Might be a wet Stockerfest next week, I'll bring my parka. It sure looked good for a little recon though........Jetspray

Our guess was Topaz. We didn't get a chance to ask him.

Makes sense!

I've never actually seen an NV Game Warden boat before. Really the only waters they could launch in western NV would be Pyramid and Topaz I would think. I had a chance to talk to the Washoe County Sheriff's jet boat captain, and he said they pretty much only take it to Tahoe, because they're subject to the same inspection as anyone else if they launch in other waters. They have another boat that primarily focuses on Pyramid.

NDOW has no jurisdiction at Pyramid Lake. The Pyramid Lake tribe makes the regulations and enforces them. You don't even need a Nevada license to fish the lake.
