We headed back to the south shore and were on the water by 7:00. We started out with spoons and rapalas at like 2.5 and headed towards the narrows. By the rock wall my bleeding shad goes off and we have our first crappie. I put back in and a couple minutes later the same lure gets bit and I boat a nice bow.

That was it for me for a while but Froggie starts getting bit on her needle fish. Nothing on the rapalas. She puts out a blue and silver castmaster and gets hot. Every pass throught the narrows it's "fish on"....then fish off!! For some reason she was having hell keeping them on! she had LDRs, SDRs, lost them at the net, drivebys!! It was tough. She got the touch back and got some but she probably missed or lost 2 or 3 times as many as she boated! She had action all day

Not as much for me.....
Then I put on a castmaster and it was like boom, boom, and I'm hot. I lost a couple when it was my turn but we each ended up with 3 keepers....we are putting together a mess of fish for the smoker.

All of the fish we kept came on spoons: white, purple/yellow, and silver and blue castmasters. Might have been one hit on a rapala? Nothing deeper than like 5 feet. Most of the best action was when we went between 2.5 and 2.8mph.

We kept heading for the dam but then we'd get a fish.

We still have 2 more punches on our 5 punch card. It saves like 5.00 a day . You get 5 launches for 60.00 (or 65?) instead of 17.00 a day...course you still have to pay 5.50 per fisher-person and 5.50 per dog and if you want to use the toilet it costs.. :smiley-laughing024:.got ya. The toilet is still included at this time. They don't even have those boxes with the doggy-doo bags. Guess you're sposed to leave it?

See you out there,
Tortuga

Froggie still has the pics

Gotta love those Kastmasters!

How sharp are your hooks? When I start getting a lot of lost fish, I check the hooks with the fingernail test. Then, if needed, I run my sharpener over the points. Seems to work for me. Some just come unbuttoned though.

Stopped at the local donut shoppe on our way to Camanche and the locals who hang out there couldn't believe Ben got to go fishing on Valentine's Day. He explained that his WIFE was with him!! :smiley-laughing024:

Weather started out cool with clouds blocking the sun as it came up over the hills. The water was very flat. The sun finally came out for awhile and a breeze came up which helped the flat water turning it perfect for fishing.

Toplining with Rapalas to start on the back 2 rod:http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q681/juberogers/2016%20Trout%20Season/image_zps84rp9q5z.jpeg

Headed to the rock wall and Tortuga got a small, but fat crappie: http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q681/juberogers/2016%20Trout%20Season/image_zpsmofvvbpv.jpeg

Since I didn't have another Blueberry Muffin Needlefish, I chose the Huckleberry Needlefish and it worked for me:http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q681/juberogers/2016%20Trout%20Season/image_zpsvbay99mu.jpeg

Tortuga's 1st trout of the day:

Watch out for the small rocky island. Since the birds were perched on it, it was easy to see. Later in the day it got even smaller and no birds made it something to watch for:http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q681/juberogers/2016%20Trout%20Season/image_zps6cdueawt.jpeg

What is the difference colorwise between the blueberry and huckleberry needlefish?

So now I'm thinking of giving a Kastmaster a blueberry muffin paint job. lol

What happens when you google huckleberry muffin? Rhetorical.

Well then, dull hooks theory out the window.
