View Full Version : 5th Annual Purple Heart Anglers Brannan Island Event

It's that time of year again. The Purple Heart Anglers are hosting our 5th Annual Brannan Island Disabled Veterans fishing event on Saturday April 16th. Carrying on the great tradition that started only a few short years ago, PHA is striving to make this once again our biggest event of the year. Last year we had RSVPs from just under 80 disabled Veterans looking to spend a day on the water fishing and enjoying the company of our volunteers. And as a result of the generous outpouring of our volunteers we had 30 boats to make it happen.

This year, we are hoping to expand on that and we are looking for volunteers. The plan is to meet at the Brannan Island ramp that morning for a quick meeting and when the buses arrive from Yountville we will load the Vets for several hours of fun. Upon return, around 1pm, PHA will host a BBQ for our Veteran guests and volunteers.

If you have volunteered for our events in the past, you know how special and meaningful they are to our disabled Veteran guests and how fulfilling they are to volunteers. If you haven't, There are many on the boards who I'm sure can share their experiences with you.

If you would like to volunteer or have questions please contact me either through a PM or email

We are still taking volunteers for this event, for anyone interested. If you don't have a boat but are experienced around one and have fishing experience, we are looking for a couple people to deckhand and help out some of our captains.

This is an amazing experience and a great opportunity to give back to those who gave so much for us. In my years of volunteering for these events I have yet to see a single Vet leave without a smile or without expressing their appreciation.

If interested or if you have questions shoot me a PM or an email.

Thanks again to all our volunteers who make this possible

Less than 2 weeks away and we are still asking for volunteers. Not only is this a great experience but it's also a great excuse to get yourself out on the water. If the current conditions hold, we should have an outstanding bite for this event.
