Fished freeport monday 5/9
Temp 61.5
To say that it was on fire would be an understatement
As schools moved through everyone was hooking up. So much so that my daughter got a little bored and wanted to throw out some other junk.
So we proceeded to catch the little devils on kokanee gear.
Best color was a white hooch with pink and white blade plunked behind the boat on a spreader with about a 18" dropper.

What worked
Drop shot grubs, color did not seem to make a difference.
Watermelon 2" apex hot spot
Hoochie spinners in white, pink, orange
Dick nites in silver and chartreuse
Hoochie behind a smile blade
Hoochie behind an action disk

What didn't work
2" chartreuse fly behind an action disc

Granted, the bite was so hot it's far from a "test" but some conclusions

1- having 1 hook is much more net friendly than 2 or 3 on the drop shot
2- we seem to catch more large females on the gear than grubs.
3- kokanee rods and super for kids to land shad on, they're so soft they can't rip lips

I thought about running flies behind an action wiggle disc. I guess I'll cross that idea off my list...

So based on your experiment I am trying the DR this am and using a koke release with about 25' setback landed a nice hen at 13' otw in 17' of water, playing with the depths to see where the sweet spot is. Not a red hot bite yet, picked up 3 and lost 3 so far on the sac
