Jetspray and I went up 88 to look at the West Walker and take our first casts of the year. We stopped at the 89 bridge. the river was high with fair color. No one was fishing and e saw no trout signs. Next it was up over Carson Pass and stopped at the day use area. The temps were cool with moderate wind. The lake was high and rising. The ramp to the dock was under water. Dave set up on the shore and I waded out to the dock. I was throwing a 1/4 oz gold Kastmaster. On about my 5th cast i let my Kastmaster sink to the bottom and started my retrieve. I felt what I thought was a rock on the bottom then the drag started going out. After about 5 minutes I was able to land a nice 24 inch Mack. Macks are rare for me ant this fish was my personal best for this species. There have yet to be any stocks for Caples this year. We had no other actions. On the way back home we checked out more spots on the river. Nothing interesting. Thanks for the ride Dave and the Moody Blues. A good day.

Great job on the mack! I've caught a few there from shore and it's usually early in the season.
