Hi,
Mine is a 12' aluminum fishing boat with a 12 year-old Mercury 15HP outboard. Can someone reccomend a place to take it for service? It runs fine part of the time and then, occasionally, it'll sort of choke-out and lose most of it's power. If I shut it down for 5 minutes or so, it'll be up to power again. It sat idle for about 7 years and had very light use before that and I'd like to find someone to go through it and make sure all is well.
Chris

If it sat for 7 years I can assure you all is not well.

The fuel went bad about 2 weeks after the last time you filled it up. That bad fuel and water have gummed up your carb and fuel filter. So the carb needs to be cleaned, the fuel filter replaced, and fuel lines replaced. The diaphragm in the fuel pump may also need to be replaced. None of this is particularly hard to do if you know your way around motors, and youtube videos will tell you how to do most if not all of it.

When I bought my boat last year all the fuel lines were PRE ethanol so the new gas dissolved them including some carb parts. Try calling sac performance on tues.

Give Jeremy at C&C on Auburn Blvd. in Citrus Heights a call. He has been good on my 15 HP Honda kicker motor and is close to you.
