I was planning on riding out there tomorrow to see what the lake looked like after all the
water coming in. then I saw the all the roads are closed due to erosion, don't know when
they will be open.

looks like it might be some weeks before we can go fishing.

its just one thing after another.
be safe

EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO STATE ROADS IN PYRAMID LAKE AREA Some of the greatest flood damage to state roads occurred in the Pyramid Lake area, with extensive damage to State Routes 445, 446 and 447. As one example, an approximately 50-feet drop-off was created by erosion on State Route 446 along Pyramid Lake (photo attached for your use). State Route 445 is currently open to emergency vehicles, but State Routes 445, 446 and 447 remain closed to the public. Many sections of State Routes 445 (Pyramid Highway), 446 and 447 were damaged by washouts and water flowing over the roadway. NDOT is clearing and evaluating roadway damages and has begun the process of contracting for emergency repairs to areas of washout, but motorists should know that sections of state roads in the Pyramid Lake area will continue to be closed indefinitely as repairs are made.

lol....Lisa calls Pyramid Lake...Paranormal Lake.

I wonder how stable the shore line is with all that dirt and sand washing into the lake.

The lady at the ranger station told me the ramp is blocked with sand, can't launch.

She also advised me to not come out fishing for a coupe of weeks.

For me the only way to get information is to call ahead for conditions. Maybe a call to Crosby's first or the ranger station. With the debris in the water it would be dangerous with high winds pushing stuff all over the lake too..........Jetspray

I would defiantly be careful and take it slow on the shore. I know a guy that lost his dad and brother on the east side do to the shifting sand (quick sand).

I'm hearing reports that there was some flooding at the ramp and it may take a month or so to get it in order. I'll see if I can find out more.

I made the trip to pyramid today. Highway 446 from fernley to pyramid is closed. Completely washed out. Highway 445 from Reno to the launch ramp is repaired. They are still working on some rough spots between the end of the pavement and the ranch house but apparently it is passable ( I didn't go look). There appears to be quite a bit of random erosion between the highway and the lake on the beach access roads. There is a culvert that goes under the road next to the bar in sutcliffe that also had some "major" erosion, but the road is still passable. Apparently the well / water pipeline to sutcliffe was also damaged so there is no tap water service. The launch ramp is completely buried below the waterline. The docks are resting in literally tons of sand from the shore to the outer ends and even beyond the ends. The soil completely eroded below the culvert near the new roundabout and ran down the bank into the lake inundating the ramp / docks. There was representatives of the tribe and maybe (?) some people from the state of Nevada (?) at the ramp. I asked them what they thought about a possible timeframe for repairs and the gentleman told me "possibly months, maybe even mid to late spring." He mentioned possibly having to bring in a "dredge". I went to the ranger station store and they politely asked me to give them time to complete repairs before I came back. I asked when they thought shore fishing might be allowed again and they said they really did not know yet. I took some photos but I'm having trouble logging into my photobucket. So if someone else would like to post let me know I will email....

Thanks for the detailed update. It does not look good for an early spring fishery.

I'm with you Don. Be like opening day all over again. Don't think I'll be able to get to my usual shore fishing spots but I'll find something.
