Does anyone ever fish and Lake Elizabeth in Fremont anymore? I live only a few blocks from there. My 9 year old little sister have been wanting to go fishing with me. I was thinking about taking her over there after school one day.

I figured I'd throw some bait out there on one pole, and me and her can plug some lures around for an hour or two with out other poles.

What do you think? Sound like its worth it?

my buddy, who is a fellow angler, used to work at the information booth there. he told us that there was a sturgeon in there about 10 years ago. some guy caught and released it...then caught it again later on! he says there are pictures of it at the information center.

i've never gotten around to checking it out, but i do believe his story as he is a stand-up guy.

Until the dredging a few years ago the lake used to turn up a large number of carp in the mid-teens and quite a few 20lb+ carp too. My buddy and I fished it regularly and had over thirty 30lb+ carp from there over a 4 year period.

Jules was one of the people who caught the sturgeon in there (I will dig out the picture and post here along with some of the better carp).

Over the last three years the fishing there has been virtually non-existant due to over predation of the human kind (yes all the meat eater have had a very significant impact on this urban lake).

i also saw the picture at the info booth of the sturgeon. i used to hear stories 18-20 years ago about people putting sturgeon and other fish in the lake. they used to stock it way back when and am sure some big dinasaurs lurk in those waters. a few months back when i saw the picture of the sturgeon, i knew the stories were true. i walked the lake a few times that day and saw a few fisherman. All couldnt really speak english. i did notice a place you wouldnt think that had carp in the 10-20 # range swimming around the surface. there is fish in there. i couldnt believe it. i'm not big on carp. so i will tell you where to go: if you enter through the back side behind the old lagoon and stay to the right you when you walk in the lake, you will come to a little crossing that the water runs underneath from the lake to a river on the right. between hobo jungle and the lake. in that little river was some fat ass fish. right at the little opening on the river side where the water passes under the walkway. try it and let us know.

it's been a few years since i've been there, but my family used to go there regularly and come out with some big ol fat cats! i know there are some big carp too.

i used to take my kids there and we used to catch quite a few bluegills all day.

so, i went out to LE a couple of days ago and didn't even get a bite. that's the way it goes there. sometimes you're on a roll or you get skunked bad...

i was going for bluegill, though. the water was pretty low, so that may have impacted the day?
