You can catch catfish anytime of the year. I would fish now if you want to catch them.

If you have had spots that produced cats in the summer, they'll usually produce in the winter. With these storms blowin through and the decent amount of rain were gettin is gettin that water muddied up so I would take advantage. Me and a buddy were in K.L yesterday to pick up a pole and I decided to take a look at the dam. Water was up,muddy, and calm. Just the way I like it!!! Since were supposed to be getting a break in the weather, my buddy and I are chasing sturgies. I think the next system moves in on saturday and I cant resist the water conditions at the dam, so I think I'll probably hit it up on friday. ;D

True, you can catch catfish anytime of the year but the fishing is much slower in the winter. Cats do like warmer water with the exception of the channel cat, they like fast moving, colder water for the most part. JIM D.

Fish whenever you can..., but it should pick up when the weather warms. I like to fish for them in the spring when they move up feeder creeks to spawn.

I've caught them year-round. The best period for me starts in April and goes through early october when warm.

Right Now. Try the Sacramento River. Pass little south of hood and you will hit the spot.
