Less than a week ago I was fishing in 80 degree weather. Things change on the East Side. Jetspray and I decided to take an early Sunday trip to Indian Creek Res. We expect to catch some fish and for the weather to be bad. Were weren't disappointed on either account.

Dave and I arrived at 0530. The temperature was in the upper 30 with a south wind of 10 MPH. The sky was full of scudding clouds. We fished 2 1/2 hours on the NE shore until the winds increased to 30 MPH and the sky started spitting rain and sleet. We brought 15 fish to the shore to 18 inches. All fish came on Gulp. The weather kept the other fishermen away. I suspect that there will be another trip later this week when the weather is nicer. Thanks for the ride Dave.

When Richard and I took a look at the launch ramp in the day use area, we stopped to use the restroom and it started pelting us with snocks (snowflake ball rocks). The wind was more of an issue as it began to blow stuff around and drive gear to the shore, I had a couple of baits get blown off the hook and land at my feet. I am sure the weather will change after Monday. Thanks for the fun stuff Richard.........Jetspray

Tuesday was setg to be a better day so Dave and I decided on another early trip to ICR. We arrived there at 0545. Clear skies and a lite breeze from the south. Temps were a cold upper 20s. We were hoping for another good day like Sunday. It was even better. We fished 5 hours with 22 fish to the shore. All fat sassy bows to 20+ inches. After 0900 the lake glassed of and the weather warmed. We saw some boats an PWC on the lake. A very noce day. Thanks for taking me Dave.

Nice fish! It's good to see the lake that full of water.

I am thinking it will go higher and yes the fishing will improve as well due to plants. Rivers are still running at a fast pace.......Jetspray

I want to make a trip to that lake soon. How is the bite for the cutts there? And what works best for the cutts there? Also is there any smaller rivers creeks near by that are fishable now? I have a few days free next week and I want to fish some new to me rivers or lakes for cutts. Debating between icr and surrounding creeks or a couple small hike to lakes on the eastern side of 108. I only have 2 days next week and either area is about a 3 hour drive from modesto so trying to do whatever research I can but for some reason Im having trouble finding any info on streams and such near icr other than the carson which I am sure is raging

As far as cutts they will probably be along the dam and at the river inlet by the campground. Some of the float tube guys fish that area around the bushes with luck. The east side where we were has some nice bows though. Good luck on what you choose:thumbup::fish_jumps:.........Jetspray

The Cutthroats are in the cove below the CG where water from the West Carson enters. Mini jigs, Kastmasters, Panther Martins. They are in a spawning mood so the bite might not be all that good. You can also get them from time to time on baits such as Gulp and Powerbait.
