I hear the cats in Melones have been on the move near the shallows...

So...

What's the best time to fish for cats this time of the year? Early in the morning or evening?? I know night time is good but... !

I prefer the evenings myself. The reason for me is simple. Early morning can provide decent action. However, as the sun begins to rise the action tends to drop off. Whereas, in the evening as the sun goes down the action tends to pick up and peak into the 12 midnight to 2am. period. Just my honest opinion.

Thanks Guys.
Today I thought to drive out there and throw the line out at Tuttletown in the cove where I picked up cats before. I stopped by there at 3:30 pm...

#1. the cove I was intrested in was high and dry *
&
#2. *the crowds were still there, tearing up the water .
..so...

I came back home thinking, tomorrow after work I could head out there and hopefully it'll be like I own the waters ( ;) ??) Hopefully everyone will have gone home by then !!

That place looks promising. Is that panoramic pic one that you slice with your camera by taking one pic then moving it and snapping another? If so you did a great job. I have never been able to get that down that well. Nice pic.

Yea it's a splice. you can see the splice down the middle and it's a little tweeked but oh well... I put the camera on a tripod but pointing the camera down a little the horizion wasn't mached. I think I need to keep the camera on level to get a better splice...

I could see it a little but not bad at all. I have never tried it on a tri-pod but just checked out the feature just holding it one day. I think it is cool and might work on making some more.

I did get out Tuesday Night for a skunk...Still learning where to go. Went to Glory Hole because I called and they told me where I should try....... I guess one needs to spend lots of time to get a piece of water wired !!!

Any way, I leveled the tripod but not exact as you will see. It is better though. This time I spliced 10 pictures together *:D so you'll need to scroll sideways...After you open up the picture, click on it again to get the full size...

Wow you lined those up great! I was only working with splicing 3 together. You didn't really mess up any of the 10.
That night pic is cool to!

Hey....I like to fish at the marina, near the houseboats. I think in the summer, there is a lot of extra food in the water. Even with that, its either off, or ON! I caught these one night last summer....

I have been out twice this year, one nice one, and a small 1 1/2 bull head. with the water dropping so much, I think the consistent food supply at the marina makes it a good spot.

Very nice steveo79...

With me it's finding where to fish, (Learning curve) The last time I've caught cats there was at Tuttletown. But now that's all high and dry...

And now I read today they are going to charge $6.00 for day use starting next month. That'll kill my going to Melones. I'm not into paying $$ just to get skunked, which Melones does to me quite often !!!! it's enough to spend extra gas $$ just to get there.

Hope there will still be a way to get to the lake without paying, like it is in Don Pedro!!! :-?

i would say the evenings for me. the mornings dont really work out for me.
i think because it feels like you dont have as much time as you do in the evenings.
i have never caught anything in the mornings and always catch cat fish in the evenings.
so from my opinion the evenings are better. 8-)

I tried splicing 3 together free hand (without a tripod) at the bay the other evening. *It turned out pretty good. *I couldn't really see the splicing. *Thanks for reminding me. *I might try it out more often.
