I got a hall pass next week and want to do some river/stream fishing. Is there anyplace worth checking out? 2-3 weeks ago I went up to Pinecrest and drove up to the Stanislaus River at Strawberry and it was un-fishable. On my way home I drove over the Mokelumne River at Jackson (Electra Road) and that was higher than I have ever seen it to but might be fishable. Are there any rivers that are fishable right now? Maybe middle fork of the Stanislaus around Parrots Ferry Rd / Camp 9? How is the West Fork of the Carson Riv up hwy-88 or maybe the Walker over of 395???

Just trying to get out fishing next week while the wife is out of town with the kids. I really don't want to go lake fishing but I guess my options might be limited.

Just thought I would see if anyone has been out to the rivers in the last week or so. Any info would e appreciated.

Rivers up 108 are blown out and chocolate. My buddy came home over the pass yesterday and took some pics, the water is literally unfishable. Had a buddy find one spot on Moccasin yesterday that caught a few planters, he said most of the water was running too fast to fish.

The East Carson along HWY 4 and the W. Walker along 108 and 395 are running at near flood level and are a deep muddy color. The W. Carson in Hope valley is high and off color but it can be fished in the meadow. It is unfishable in the canyon. Trout are difficult to find. It will be a couple of weeks.

Try the North, Middle, or South Forks of the Tuolumne. Fished there for 12 Rainbows. Mostly smallish native fish and a couple of stockers. Fished about 3 hours. Water perfect right now but dropping fast. Need to hurry if you want to fish these lower streams.

The West Carson is starting to fish fair to good in Hope Valley. The Upper Truckee will open on Saturday and will fish vary good for wild trout.
