Hey guys,

Looking for some advice on first time shad fishing. Is it to late in the game? Thinking of heading to the American river to try it out or even the sac. Any feedback is appreciated. Have boat and cab shore fish. Primarily was thinking of shore fishing for shad sense it's my first time.

If You wanna boat fish sunrise is easy to launch at and you motor about 1 minute from the launch before you drop anchor. Pretty comfortable area to fish and simple I always just used a grub and a split or two and let my girlfriend drop it down or cast it. Both worked well. Bank fishing i would try any bank access above sunrise. They are going to be thicker up there. Still freshies moving in at watt and stuff but not as many. You can still catch shad all month long especially if you go to the basin/hatchery area
