Jetspray and I left the Carson Valley and headed up 88 for a look at the West Carson. Unfortunately last night heavy thunder storms had raised the flows on the West Carson from 80 CFS to 150 CFS last night. We arrived at the 89 bridge around 0730 and found what we expected a very muddy river. Later on we checked out the East Carson and found it high but clear. Many of the places I like to fish were inaccessible. There were some fishing the river but didn't seem to be having much luck.

Between our visits to the East and West Carson we made a stop at ICR. I'd never fished ICR in August. We fished on wither side of the boat ramp below the day use area. I had that herd that there was a recent CDFW stock. Dave and I fished for a couple of hours and got 5 fish on Gulp. 3 of them were the usual wimpy CDFW stockers but the other two were 15 inch and 20 inch beauties. If you can hack the weeds there are fish to be had. Thanks for the ride Dave. A fun day.

Great pics, looks like you two had a good time.

Great adventure with some nice fish. Darwin Award candidate for sure. I've been fishing the West fork the last few weeks and it's fishing good before the rains.

I've never fished Indian Creek Res. I have heard and read a lot about weeds. Didn't know they had a launch. Its a small lake, right? Too small and weedy for a 20' inboard?

I have a 20' jet boat and would not drop mine in, but I have seen some larger boats on the water there. Weeds usually grow close to shore, but this lake has filled up quite a bit (more than I have ever seen in 10 years of living here). The stuff close to shore is only things that were covered with water, not much at the end of the ramp (which is quite deep in now). You can use the public access ramp until sunset, the other access is on the east side of the lake and is just a gravel road into the lake. I don't think you would have any trouble and the only reason the lake is not fishable would be a covering of ice.........Jetspray

Saw a 22 foot Striper fishing it once but I don't think he was happy. Best for tin cans, tubes and toons. Got a friend with a rubber boat and it works great.

CCI never did a depth search, but I know there is a channel behind the campsite launch and there are a bunch of fish there. I think this year it is worth a try, due to the fact that the lake is very full. Don't get discouraged........Jetspray

Thanks for the info. Might have to leave the boat at home and dust off the inflatable with pee wee troll motor. Sounds like a fun little lake to try.

I was on the west Carson Friday the 4th too. 3 bows to maybe 8" all on panther martins. Like you said water was muddy so I didn't spend a lot of time with worms or salmon eggs which I used to do pretty well with on the river a long time ago. Was planning on stopping by the river Sunday on my way home but it was pouring rain and the river seemed to be a bit darker than Friday so I just decided to go home and clean my gear
