View Full Version : Gillnet in Lisbon Slough

I took my nephew to lisbon this morning to fish for cats. We fished from my jonboat and on the way back I let him troll with a tiny rapala. about a quarter mile from the railroad trestle at the causeway he got snagged. I turned around to retrieve the lure. pulled up to it and handlined it up. At first I thought it was a hairy tree root. Turns out to be a gillnet. It was all twisted up on itself and bound around submerged tree limbs. I tried to tear it loose but would have flipped the boat in the process. It's too boundup to be killing fish anymore. Might go back to make another try at removing it just in case. Wouldn't want to have to explain that to D.F.G if i got checked coming of the water with it though.

Got a couple. 1 and 4 pounds released. I bought live jumbo minnows last night and my aerator died sometime during the night. Guess how many live ones I had by the time I got on the water? If you picked two your right. imagine that. They wouldn't touch chovies or dines.
