I was wondering if anyone has fished for cats by the Nimbus Dam. There is a spot right next to the dam that looks deep and promising...anybody know?

So, just use a cornmeal ball and drop it to the bottom?

I have not done it in years but if you can cast far then cast all the way out by the dam with crawdads or something stinky and you should hook something. We used to go down there and get huge cat fish right at dark. If you can, go up to the lake at around midnight when the water is high, and walk to the ponds and you will hook the biggest cats you have ever seen in your life. ;D

I've seen bass and carp swimming around the dam but it looks real promising for catfish as well. I've pulled one carp out of there last year and it was worth it. Well above 20lbs and had another one on that snapped 18lbs test. The cornmeal with honey should do the trick! :D

You have to park right off of main where Sunset and Main meet and walk in, it takes about 10 min to get to the lake. I donít want to give exact locations but itís not hard to find the fish they are all back in the coves eating.

Any issues with security, parking, DFG, LE, or anything that time of night?

I have never had a problem in the past 20 years. I do not fish there to often but I know people who do and they have never been in any trouble.

look out for rattle snakes.
Yea, that would be a good idea. They're out in full force this time of year! :o

You should definitely try to fish the dam as well there are a lot of fish in there, I was actually thinking of thronging some bait out there this evening. I will let you know how I do if I go out there.

Yes, let me know how it goes. I might try to swing out that way later to day if I can.
