Started fishing around 7AM. Caught 3 small cutts and lost 2. Caught my first cutt over 24"

Measured right at 26" and 6.78lbs

Cop car mag lip and bloody frog lyman caught the bigger one. 2 to 2.7mph 58* water temp , Pelican
15' to 50' topline then switched to downrigger.

Quit at 10:30AM. All fish released. Anglers on shore still seem to be struggling.

Very nice meeting you today Don! Nice fish!

I fished from 730-1130 near Sutcliffe and managed 12 or so fish to 23 inches. Found a better bite today with larger average than yesterday. Still nothing to write home about but feel good about the approach.

No depth finder but felt like 30-60 feet was best. Lowrance comes back tomorrow with my dad so we'll go see what's up.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171022/ec90b8ee32f62d004517f2d3edfca088.jpg

Maybe just a switch in tactics might help, ya never know..........Jetspray

How did you do on the downrigger Don? Did you move to deeper water or just sink a spoon deeper? I haven't used my downriggers yet this season.

Several hits and only the 26" cutt caught on the downrigger. 40' or so. Didn't use any spoons. Three smaller cutts and lost three including hits toplining in 15' to 25'

Three smaller cutts and lost three including hits toplining in 15' to 25'Steve was using DR's at 100 feet with a 5 lb weight on Scotty Pro's, he was dragging a 8 inch white salmon type flasher with white UV stuff for flash, he was using a squid style hoochie (5 to 6 inches) in white with two hooks. He caught quite a few including a 6 lb'er, nice for a first try in the boat. I think we were 300 yards off shore of the kitchen about mid way and the blow back would probably have his stuff close to 80/90 ft deep at about 3 mph or less. If you see them on the scope go for them. A few years back I found a massive school just about 100 yards out from Pelican at the north end of the bay, we rounded up the wagons and fished it in a circle. My wife wore out her arms reeling in fish.........Jetspray

Probably another month until the shore really turns on. You can do ok now where there are deep drop offs.

Little better size today. This one measured in at 29 inches and my dad lost a bigger one at the boat. Scratched and clawed our way to 30 fish from 9:30-4:30 in perfectly flat calm seas all day.

Great day trip for Pops and Joe.

Nice having the depth finder back.
