Took my son out to Lake Siskiyou here in the Mount Shasta area during the afternoon. It had been a while since I had been out on my home lake and figured with the cooler weather we had been having that a little trout fishing should be productive. Temps were in the high 40's a light breeze out of the south and overcast skies. Surface temp was at 52 degrees when we launched and we were the only boat on the water. In the approximate 2 1/2 hrs we spent on the lake I estimate we caught and released 20+ rainbows with the majority of them being in the 12-16 inch range with a couple bigger holdover fish mixed in. No Browns and no Brooks this trip also no green trash fish which sometimes like to mix in. Running the topline with spoons and rapala's seemed to be a pretty good ticket with speeds anywhere from 2.2 to 2.8 mph. While out there as our gear cleared one of my favorite areas to troll through one of our rods got a pretty good takedown. My son was quick to the gear and quickly said Dad I think this is a big one. After a short but satisfying fight my son proudly landed this guy. A couple quick pictures and he was released for another day. My guess is he was brood stock from our local hatchery that got planted. Only a partial tail, blunt nose and some worn fins at least seemed to indicate that. Siskiyou seems to be hot right now for those that might have the opportunity to fish!!!!!

Fantastic, ya gotta love those quick reflexes from the youngsters! That's one of my favorite lakes, thanks for the report.
