Wife and I decided to fish Wishon since the road is still open and our other favorite lake's water level has dropped below the launch ramp, creating a muddy mess. We got to the launch around 12 and made a quick run to troll the dam wall. Within 3 minutes of our lines being out, bam, a feisty 14" brown. Started the troll again and bam, a nice rainbow. Kept heading around the lake and my wife's rod gets hit and line is being pulled off....good fish on. After a few minutes, a beautiful 22" brown comes into the boat. That hook jaw is released after a few pics. We then make our way to the back of the lake and run the river channel. Fish after fish after fish. Mostly browns in the 12-16" range but there were a few rainbows mixed in. For those that want to know, all fish were caught trolling custom rainbow Rapala h-13's

Great day for us with 15-20 being caught. Water was right at the bottom of the ramp and temp was a cool 46-48 degrees, depending on which part of the lake we were. Water clarity was around 10' but dropped to about 4' where the Kings river came in. Turnover is in full effect with bubbles all over the lake, emitting the smell of spoiled powerbait.

Wishon should be good until the road closes in the very near future. Best to call the forest service for current road conditions.

Great Lake, I always wonder if there is a giant cruising around in there...

Grew up there in Fresno. Fished all those lakes and stream up in that area when I was younger. Brings back good memories.

Great day you had fishing. Congrats.

Rapala H-13....Is that the vintage Husky 13? The stock rainbow is hard to find. I have a half dozed or so H-13 in different patterns. They work well on Tahoe for browns, rainbows, and macks. So do the vintage Rapala floating mag 13.

Also the Rapala Scatter Rap 11 works well too, except they are too fragile and break easily.

I like adding my own touch to some of the lures I use too.

Yes, the H-13 is the Husky. I have a few of the original ones with a bunch of the newer "classic collection" models one can find on eBay. None are the RT finish (a friend has a few though). I tried to match the local rainbows and came up with my own rainbow pattern over 10 years ago. The back is a mixture of green pearl and silver, while the sides have light pink over metallic white. Add the black dots over a majority of the lure and voila, you have a mam/hunt/wish rainbow. Pattern works well not only around here but also up north and on the east side.

The scatter 11 does work but I do not like it for the reasons you said (lip falls out and the back breaks). Rapala Europe and now Canada have a Husky 13 scatter in some crazy colors but I have not bought one as of yet. They look stronger than the 11 and might be great off the downrigger. Hopefully the will come to the USA.

Sorry no fish porn. I don't subscribe to any pic hosting site.
