Haven't been to Indian Creek Res. sense early August. With few local fishing opportunities it was time for a look. Jetspray and I arrived on the north shore shortly before 0800. The sky was mostly clear with a slight wind from the NE and temps in the low to mid 20s. The lake flattened to glass around 0930. Fishing with Gulp Dave and I managed 7 to the shore. Most were small but Dave one around 17 inches. Not off the hook fishing but better than sitting at home. Minden Tom showed up around 1030 and launched. Wonder if he did any good? A pretty day in a pretty part of the world. Nice seeing you again Tom. Thanks for hanging with me Dave.

It is local for us only about 30 minute drive over to enjoy a little fun. I had not fished in a while due to family and doctor issues, but it was fun taking Richard over there.......Jetspray

Few years back there used to be cutthroats in there, caught a few up to 6-7lbs with my car topper, there is somewhat of a channel out in middle, I believe it goes to over 33ft deep, all the other areas are pretty shallow at 10ft or less. It is a shame that the trout taste poorly since they eat a lot of muck & snails, taste like the fish out of Bridgeport, mucky & dirt

As the season goes to a close the fish are trying to find as much as they can before winter hits, they do eat vegetable matter as well and most of that dies away and the only thing left is leeches, worms, snails, or anything else they can scrounge up. That day they were foraging for stuff on the bottom so a short leader (12 inches or less) was the pick of the day. Val Abury of Eagle Lake said to me "Applesauce with eyes" referring to shrimp in their bellies. Very cool gal too.......Jetspray

Every year in the spring excess spawners from Heenan are dumped into ICR and a couple of other spots around Alpine County. Some of these fish are real brutes. CDFW also stocks catchable and sub catchable LCT. Didn't get many LCT this year.
