Last Wednesday Jetspray spent an entire morning trolling the entire lake while emptying our tackle boxes with only a few strikes. Where were the fish? Topaz remains high with flows from the Topaz Canal pumping in from the south. With the opener last weekend this area was now opened for fishing. Is this where the fish are? The answer is yes. The entire south end is flooded cow pasture with a flooded river bottom. Dave and I arrived on the south end at 0630 and immediately started to catch fish. We fished for 5 hours and managed 18 fish to the boat. All fish were holdover bows from 1 1/2 to over 3#. All fish came on orange or green Gulp. Things bode well for Topaz. The south should remain a fish magnet well into July. Thanks for the ride Dave. I needed a good day like this.

CC, your reports and pictures never disappoint! Looks like the choice to anchor and baitfish really paid off. Nice way to spend the day. Too bad all those darned trout spoiled your relaxation!

Yeah how do you drink beer when you always have fish on you lines?

Richard, "I told you so", man what a great day and fish to boot. The channel was open all the way to the south end where it moves around and gets shallow. Anyone who is able to get there, do not forget the Chunky Chartreuse and Orange Pulp Gulp, you could use worms too. Great day for a sit fishing expedition and listen to the radio without the FF making noise on it........Jetspray

Yeah how do you drink beer when you always have fish on you lines?Sorry but I am not a anti-booze guy, but no drinks on my boat from anyone. Had relations die due to drunk drivers, and you cannot control things under the influence of anything else either. I would rather sit at the campfire and enjoy a libation with you any time........Jetspray

Too bad all those darned trout spoiled your relaxation! He still needs a little help with the anchor from time to time, but he did a great job today. We take the jetboat and set it in about 3 ft of water, just need to sink the blades of the front anchor and drop the rear bomb anchor to set. It was a relaxing day and yes we did loose a little gear releasing all of those fish (very small hooks)........Jetspray

I have seen that arm pic a few times .Keep um coming .The walker should settle down in a bit Looking like we will have a great year on the west walker . They sure need the tourism .Last year sucked for themI know it will, the lake is a little down from the last time we launched, the walker flows are moderate and most of the mountains around here have lost snowpack. As far as tourism that should increase as the summer travel increases, but it is yet to be seen......Jetspray
