Stoped off after work in coloma to take a few drifts missed one hit and stuck one pike minnow pushing 3 lbs out up a great fight on the 5' UL with 4# tess lol thought I had big one for a minute with the high flows and deep pocket didn't get to see him till I got close enough was fishing in brush had to get steel toes wet to get a good landing spot then i just smiled that i got myself wet when i seen what it was. So i guess i know why i didn't catch any trout he must have ate them all already or NOT! Been catching a couple pikes a year drifting for trout for years now. And I still catch Brown's and rainbows year after year. Here is the picture of the brown i thought i had for a minute lol. Oh yea not took out the water or touched released un harmed to live another day and eat more trout like I do. Hell it's nice to have competition on the river. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180510/9f962b3ee71a1aa4b5744d73808a5f42.jpg

If Pike minnows are the harbinger of trout doom
then they have been doomed for 60 plus years that I personally know of.:old:

I agree CDK. It's more of a joke thread to those who know what I'm talking about.

Does this mean they are also down at Folsom Lake eating up all the trout, koke's and land locked marlin in the lake? No wonder I haven't been doing well at Folsom.

Um, I'm not sure if you know, but that's not a sea lion in the pic.

That's a Golden Trout. I caught lots of em, but don't tell anyone. Spot burners......

Fish and game says that the Carp are eating the Marlin eggs.

The Sacramento Pike Minnow is native to California waters. I represents no bigger threat to trout and salmon than it has for the last 15,000 years or longer. They used to call these things Squaw Fish but that's not so PC.

CCI had a pike fish swim through my legs in 1959 in Clear Lake Iowa just south of the Surf where Buddy Holly did his last performance and died in a plane crash, here is what they look like.........Jetsrpay
