Have you sent in your applications yet? I am waiting till the last few days since there is one guy in our group that has a bunch of points and he is not sure how he wants to manage those points. It looks like we are going to apply together and that will allow me to get a much better deer zone. Obviously we need to figure it out soon. June is right around the corner.

I think there is a final decision and we will apply tomorrow for our Ca. deer tags.

One interesting thing that came up while discussing how many points it should take to draw an X zone was one hunter stopped applying a couple of years ago and now realizes that had he kept applying for a point he would be a lot better off this year now that he wants to hunt deer again. My advice is if there is any possibility of you wanting to hunt deer in the future in Ca. keep applying for PO only and you will have a much better option down the road. I know it costs money to apply but a tank of gas costs more than a resident deer tag application.

We actually have a second lottery here in Nevada and then a first come first serve but both of those are based on unclaimed tags not unfilled so the odds are not good.

I put in for low quota areas and then the Rubies which has a high quota because it's a bear to hunt. Almost glad I didnt get it.

I have one ace in the hole for a Land Owner hunt over in White Pine County but I really dont want to play that card because it's not cheap rent.

The thing I like about the draw in Calif. is that if you don't get drawn for your first choice you keep your points. I always put in for three x zone or special hunt zones. I have been lucky enough to draw my second choice for A14 and keep all my points. Only twice in all the years I've applied. So I put in for A14, A13, A12. I'll get an "unsuccessful' notice and apply for D3-5 if I'm not drawn.

In Nevada, if you draw a tag you lose your points no matter which choice you draw. I only put in for the one hunt I want. I'm not giving up my points to hunt a fourth or fifth choice. Learned the hard way. LOL

That bowl had 7 huge bucks, we nicknamed them the "magnificent seven"
we just couldn't put it together, I got within 20 yards of a 200" bruiser with matching drop times and watched the tops of his horns for 7 hours. He didnt stand up all day...

This was one of the smaller bucks I blew a stock on and he ran right to my hunring partner

Pretty good chance I'm getting a Landowner Muley tag over in White Pine. Easier hunt than the Rubies and I know the area. Be a good chance put the new to me McMillan. 270 WSM to use.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180612/17077b10757d3a55d87fbd2eaea59249.jpg

Sent from my SM-G892A using TapatalkI believe they are only good for the property and I believe that includes leased property. Since I'm not the land owner, I don't know all the particulars.
