I'm headed to French Meadows this weekend to get
away from the Sacramento hot weather.
I'm going to be bank fishing .
I never have fished French Meadows from the
bank and am looking for some pointers.
I was kinda thinking more towards the back
of the lake might be more productive?
Any help, pointers or advise would be greatfull.
thanks....Bob

You are on the right track. I always go to the back where the river flows in, and generally do pretty well.

thanks for the input.
I have not fished from the bank in
a lot of years.
you get spoiled having a boat.
im going to try power bait and crawlers
and see how they work.
I would take the boat ,but for just a
2 day trip towing on that road is
just not worth it.

"That road".....the actual mileage is not that much, but driving it seems endless. I think it is because there are no straight sections. You have to pay attention 100% of the time....no zoning out or you could find yourself plunging 1500 feet down the canyon.

I have driven that road about 6 times and
you are so right about keeping focused.
I drove to French meadows in mid-late may
and the road at certain spots are worse due
slides.
I will take my time im in no hurry to be
stupid.
thank you.

I decided to beat the heat in Sacramento and go
to French Meadows this weekend.
Left Sacto about 7am got to French meadows about
10.Went thru all the camp grounds and decided
on lewis. Not to many people In it plus spot 3 was
close to the bathroom and water.
unloaded the truck and headed out looking for
fire wood.
plus while driving around for fire wood
I just kinda did some exsploring.
Went to the boat ramp and bank fished
from 1to 3 green power bait for 1 nice 14''
trout.
didn't see to many boats
on the water plus the wind was blowing
5-8 mph.
it seems like the kinda lake to me that if your going
to take a boat to you will want to stay a few days.
plus no place where I camped to beach your boat
when not using it and keep an eye on it.
but launch and retrieve don't bother me.
I had a great time and will go back when I can take the boat.
