Launched from Berkeley at 6:30. High tide at 9:30. Drifted anchovies from red buoy #4 starting at 35 feet and ending at 15 feet. Caught a few small halibut on each drift but lost the only keeper at the net. Quit when the wind came up at 11:30.

Do you use a single hook for live bait, or trap rig?

When i went out last week, it depended on the size of the bait. Anchovies and shiners got single hooks, but sardines, macks, and smelt got the single in the mouth with the treble near the tail. We were in Tomales, but figure it's somewhat the same.

Single 2/0 octopus hook through the lower jaw and nose. I've been told that works better with live bait because it lets the bait move around. But I'm always looking for more advice.

Thanks I'll try some different set ups and see if my hook up ratio improves.

That's what I use also, just wondering if you have had any corrosion issues?

My boat is 4 years old and has a painted hull.I wash it with "car type" wax soap inside and out very good.It has seen the salt way more than any lake and most people would be hard pressed to look at my boat and say it has Ever been in the salt even once.

I have my boat in a slip in the Berkeley Marina. Spent $2000 this year to have primer and bottom paint applied and replaced the zincs. Also bought an electrode which attaches to my multimeter and is supposed to tell you if your zincs are working. I was recently in Florida and also in Canada where I saw plenty of aluminum boats in salt water, so I assume that with bottom paint and good zincs I should be fine.
