Is October the best time to fish Pyramid from a boat?
What about other times of the year?
Would like to avoid the opener.

Short answer......

The fishing from a boat on Pyramid Lake, Nv is good from October 1st to June 30th.

If you live close, and have plenty of time free (like retired or working weekends) you can fish during the week and have good access at Pelican to launch a boat. Shoreline will be occupied for the first couple of weeks until the cold weather shows up. With a boat you have better access in my opinion. Just make sure you get the tribal permits required and follow the rules, you are kind of in another world on reservation land......Jetspray

The opener may be windy and wet. I'm going up on the 8th and then will fish it until the snow comes. Shore fishing will be crowded until they realize that not every cast produces a 20lb fish. Boat fishing is wide open with the only restrictions being the weather. If the fishing is hot on the east side but the wind is blowing you dont go or you might never come back. Don't mean to scare you, wait, yes I do.

However, to your original question, you can fish it anytime it's open and get fish.

The problem with the winds is they show thier ugly head either from the north or the south, depending on the weather forecast. The waves are short duration, i. e. they have little room between sheep heads on top, it makes it very difficult to navigate no matter what size of boat. Ask some of the guides who go out just about every day on that one......Jetspray

Looks like the winds are going to cooperate for the opener. Slight chance of rain but definitely doable. Have fun and be safe.

What weather app do you use for the wind? Iím coming from Sacramento and have been going back or forth if itís worth the gamble on a windy blow out or not

Wind is a problem Chrome Seeker, but coming over the hill the weather on Hwy 80 over the pass is more important as well as road conditions....Jetspray

Very true Dave.

When I worked in Truckee, I checked this every morning... especially in winter.
