With 2 plants in less than 7 days last week and another coming this week, the trout bit at Collins is starting to pick up for bank anglers. We saw quite a few in the 3-5lb range pulled out this past weekend and the larger fish were all coming from the shore.

Here’s the part everyone hates:
Hot bait: PowerBait Chartreuse with Glitter and Garlic/Ail
Hot location: South of the launch ramp below the 200s RV sites
Hot time: 0600-0800

If you haven’t been to Collins recently they have a new “fishing/swimming dock” located at the swim beach for anglers to use. If you do fish from it, please leave it clean and don’t dump trash into the lake. And respect other anglers who also wish to use it. They are enforcing the “no fishing” perimeter near the fish pens as well as the launch ramp so the point between the rental boat dock and ramp is now off limits.

Yep Fished off that dock on labor day talked to a worker there he said yep just dont hook any swimmers!!!! Nice clean dock gets you out from shore into deeper water although I did not catch squat there the guy on the rental dock doing the exact same thing got his limit and we are talking it was around 95 that day . LOL . got to give all the workers there credit they are pretty laid back and are actually nice to us fisher folk . Did get into some crappie at the pens your talking about went out with the son on his boat and were hitting nice sized ones at the corners of the pens using Keitech (probably murdered that ) Jigs . That little lake is nice , love Collins .
