I live in the South Bay and have been trying to figure out best places to launch to hit rockfish, lingcod, salmon, and crab. So far it seems Pillar Point in HMB would work but highway 1 sucks and it's $14 per launch + parking? I'm not sure how much parking is.

Pier 52 is $5 and includes parking, so it seems the best, but you're stuck going through the gate.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think the launch fee includes parking.

HMB is your best bet short ride to fishing ground.

When you launch from HMB, how do you know when you're out of the protected areas?

Get a map and a good GPS. Don't take anyone's word it will get you in trouble every time....

I guess what's confusing for me is that it says in Pillar Point state marine you can take pelagic by trolling and dungeness. But are there fish that are not pelagic out there? What about rock crabs? Bait isn't considered trolling is it?Also then in Montara it says you can't take anything... so basically stay the hell out of there?
