Don't need to state how bad the weather has been. The entire month of February has been blown out. Snow, rain, wind and extreme cold has made me house bound. The weather remains poor but March 1 seemed to be a little bit better. Jetspray, JB Fishing and I arrived on the north shore of Topaz Lake at 0630. The temp was in the mid 30s with winds from the SW 5 to 15 MPH. The forecast was for increased winds after 1000. We fished for 3 1/2 hours with only a couple of half hearted bites. As advertised the winds increased at 1000 to white cap conditions. It's heard to rationalize how poor the fishing at Topaz has been. Is it the very cold water? Or the rise in lake level? Who can say. Hope it improves. Fishing down the shore from us was Nevadablue, I did enjoy talking to him. Rain and snow for the next couple of days. Jeff, Dave thanks for the ride. Nice talking to you Tony. Maybe next time.

Just to let everyone know, I was the one who drove down to the forbidden vehicle parking area (red signs posted). I did that because of my conditions, cannot lift over 10 lbs, cannot bend, cannot strain. I also have a damaged left foot which I should be going to therapy for but those restrictions are for my eye surgeries. Other than that it was the only day I could pick to get the truck down that close to the shore to fish. Nice meeting Tony there and being able to take Richard and Jeff along was a plus. I lost bait about 3 times and one I know was a strike for sure. I did not see the amount of trash along the shore as last year, but I do know that the lake was lightly clouded and has come up quite a bit. There is debris out there but mostly clouds of grasses and moss (I did snag some of that coming in each time). The water is still cold, and we did not spot any boats on the water....Jetspray

BTW the debris is suspended in about a 10 to 20 foot depth along most of the shoreline. This causes the fish not to hunt that area of the bottom (how would you like to walk through a smoke filled room with no visibility and you could not breathe). They mostly skirt along in schools looking for opportunity items and smaller movement on the bottom. Anchor boating is not out of the question, but the weather prevented any of that. We might be able to sneak in a day next week....Jetspray

We were there from about 06:00 to 10:30 and caught 5 between us. Two were worth keeping the others were smaller, but the only one I caught had a red tag on it for $100 and $10 free slot play that I parlayed into $46. Not bad for a day's fishing. Jeff might post some pic's from his phone, we'll see....Jetspray

When we went over to collect I got much the same thing, about a month later Richard called me and told me to go collect some more because one was first place and the other was second place for the month, score again. Thanks to my friends being on the lookout for me:beer::drunk:....Jetspray

http://www.graywave.org/sniffer/jeff04.jpgThanks for posting Jeff's pic's he did say you wanted to see anything we caught. It was a little bit of a sloppy ride over and the lake came up a couple of inches while we were there. Soon there will be no access to that deeper area by the trees, only at the end of the road on that side......Jetspray

On the ride over we had valley fog all most all the way over, some of it was freezing. It looks like the only day we will have this week to give it a try. Just wish I could be able to take out the boat, but I won't know that till after the 12th of the month at Sierra Eye Associates......Jetspray

If you're getting paid, does that technically qualify you as a professional fisherman?

If you're getting paid, does that technically qualify you as a professional fisherman? No way do I want a job/work, I left that in 2006 and never looked back (retired at 56). No just extremely lucky to have fun and get something added. Technically I am a great grandfather to two great grand sons, and the youngest calls me PopPop:vrolijk_26::vrolijk_26::vrolijk_26::vrolijk _26::vrolijk_26:..Jetspray

I think we will give it another try tomorrow, I am sure the water has come up quite a bit. This time last year the road was flooded on the east side of the park. It may be again, we will see....Jetspray
