Hi all, just wondering if the road to French Meadows and or Hell Hole has cleared yet. I have a weekend to myself coming up and want to take the kayak out. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I heard the road was clear before this current weather system. Mosquito Ridge Rd. has a short section that tops out at about 6,000 feet, so there's bound to be some fresh snow. I'm going to attempt to drag the boat there next weekend. I'll report back afterwards. Not sure if my timeline will help you.

The reservoir has been kept low this winter, I assume due to either dam or spillway work. The link below shows the water level at H.H. For some reason it's always about 10 days behind for H.H. H.H. needs to be at about 125,000 AF in order to use the concrete ramp. At its current level, there will be no water in the back of the reservoir.

Camped at Hell Hole Fri-Sun. Road in was clear. French Meadows is full.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190527/1d45a08b03720e2959ce56e6e351abe5.jpg

HH was down about 50 feet. The weather changed by the hour. Experienced sun, hail, rain & snow. Along with some impressive thunder. Water level increased about 18” over 36 hours. Found the Kokes toplining a dodger/hoochie with a 3/8 oz in-line weight.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190527/62916ec7eb5212dc9595d79a7020aa9c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190527/b5a8eec89dad6a8c318afb10723dc8d4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190527/a47cc20138ef7bf07e91c6b593f564cd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190527/7fc0b604527a3563b5eed90d4085251e.jpg

Great news.

Glad you got into some nice Kokanee. I can imagine the weather was interesting.

Thanks for the report.

Stopped Hell Hole again last weekend. The water level has increased at least 40 feet since Memorial Day weekend. Itís only a few feet from the spillway. Hopefully they donít draw it down too fast. Found the Kokes from 20-45 feet. The bite was inconsistent throughout the day. Pulled a few 15Ē into the boat, but there are a lot in the 11-12 inch range. The larger fish seemed to be deeper. Sorry, no fish pix.
