Has anyone been to Winnemucca or Round Top lake before? Does anyone know if there's still snow up on those trails?

My buddy has a cabin up on Silver Lake and I was going to try and hike up here. He usually hikes little Round Top, but I've heard fish might not be up in the lake anymore? Can anyone confirm this?

Has anyone fished Winnemucca before? I've seen reports of people fishing it, but that was 4-5 years ago, nothing new on recent reports.

Anything on Woods Lake or Fourth of July Lake too? They all seem to be really close.

Is this a hike that should be fine as a solo hiker or it that ill advised?

Thank you for the tips and the help as always!

No problem hiking it solo! They're will be lots of people hiking and some fishing. Their used to be gold trout in Round Top Lake but the brookies took over. Winnemucca Lake also has brookies. There is still a lot of snow up there most people that are hiking it right now are doing Backcountry skiing or snowboarding. Good luck up there!

Oh wow, thanks for the help and the update everyone. I thought more snow would be gone by now, but it looks like fishing won't be going off anytime soon!

Does anyone have an idea on spots that may be fishable up that way right now? Either looking at doing some spin casting or fly fishing. Basically the only type of trout I have caught has been rainbow, looking to catch some other species this summer!

Thanks!

Usually, the ice is gone from Winnemucca Lake about early July, Usually!

If you hike there in mid July be prepared for tons of people enjoying the wild flowers along the trail, between Frog Lake and Winnemucca Lake.

If you have an inflatable raft or float tube, the best fishing is along the deep drop off, along the back shoreline
