Fresh chicken liver and some good dip bait (hog wild, Sonny's, Rusty's). When they are not bitting on liver, they will bite on dip and vise versa.

Used to use clame a lot when I fished the DWC, now I use sardines mostly, once in awhile I take along some chicken livers. I used to make a stink bait dip that worked great with sardines for channel cats. JIM D.

I'm going to try my hand at making some stinky bait, peanut butter (smooth) anchovie and liver blend it together , let it rot for awhile LOL that ott to get a few.

Liver seems to work best where me an Robb fish

I always use at least 1 pole with dip bait. The scent will bring em in too! I know it stincks and is messy, but it produces. Catfish have over a 100 scent pores and smell is what attract them. Go to www.catfishconnection.com and you will find an array of catfish items including some great dip bait.

CATFISH BAIT DIP : 1. tub of chicken livers. 2. 1 tub of beef liver. 3. 1 tub of brains. 4. 1 block of limburger cheese. 5. 1 tsp crushed garlic. 6. 1 tsp. salt. Blend all in blender, add water or blood if have, to get thickness where it will stick to items dipped. Don't know if I would want to use this in a boat. When I made it I baited my hook and dipped it from a distance, keep it down wind. Let it set in the sun for a day or two and there is nothing that smells worse. I don't even think a catfish would touch it. JIM D.

If I can add to it JIM_D.
Do not seal it with a lid while it is sitting out, cause it WILL expand and explode! Put a nylon or cheese cloth over it. TRUST ME ;)

Well last time I was at Del Valle - I had fresh chicken liver and 2-weeks-old-rotten-and-stincky one.

The fresh one was VERY popular and stincky one had no bite at all.

Go figure.

True Zepplock... The fresher the liver the better. I primarly target large cats(10# and over)and I am on the water about twice a week and I am telling ya'll, dip bait works when nothing else does. Now I am not saying that liver and dip is the only bait. I like fresh mack and fresh large clams. I prefer out of them all small bream or sucker than all the above. I fish for small bream and use them as bait as well. Larger cats prefer live bait fish/gills. Back in the day, I always used crawlers, but often I never even use em any more, unless fishing for crappie/gills with a bobber.

I always put it something with a vented top for sure. I used it mostly with sardines, it worked best with the guts. JIM D.

Believe me, you would not enjoy, we used to keep it down wind and dip the bait with the pole, good thing to try on fear factor, just smelling it. JIM D. P.S. It really brought on the larger cats.

Try cut up hot dogs (turkey or chicken, not the all beef ones) in a jar. Add two packages of strawberry kool-aid (unsweetened) and some chopped garlic. Add water and let it marinade overnight.
