I just looked up the flows and it's down to 1063 cfs. :o :'(

No, the shad season is not doomed. The river is still at about 1500cfs, where its been all spring, and thats plenty of water for the shad to make it all the way to the basin. Where did you hear the flows were down? The flows should stay about where they are now all summer. If we have another dry winter then we will have to worry.

I just checked again and the last data at 1600 hrs has the river back up to 1550 cfs. :-/

Actually the Flow is at 1572cfs right now.

D Impala, The shad are in there, not thick as usual but they are there. I've been hooking 10 to 15 every morning this week behind Cal Expo 8-)

They've been in the lower A for a couple weeks now and some smaller schools have already shown up at the dam. A few have been caught at Sailor Bar as well as off the Sunrise bike bridge, so the outlook seems promising. I believe that in the next week or two we will be seeing regular reports of successful shad outings ;)!

So, is that supposed to mean you think not alot of shad will come up the american this year? I guess its possible they all headed up to the feather not that the flows up there are any better. I guess Im just an optimist, but I can remember some pretty good nights fishing for shad at lower sunrise in low water.

I confirm it's not Doomed. We saw a Fly fisherman hook up[ early this Morning and Me and CASnookman hooked into a few around 10:00am. ;)
