I am taking my son fishing for the first time and I am looking for somewhere to go where we can catch some fish quickly. I live in Paradise and am looking for a lake or river where shore access is available. ANy suggestions would be great.

Paradise Lake is a close option.

go for bluegill, or a planter fish. with these two options you are guaranteed to catch something, constantly. If anyone knows of a lake or pond that has planters in it (or bluegill), post up and i can give you suggestions on how to fish for the species.

I know that Paradise lake has recently been stocked with trout. What is the best way to catch em.

In my experience the DFG planters love powerbait.

What an afternoon we had!!! My sons first 3 fish turned all turned out to be 3lb rainbows. All caught at Paradise lake. Pics to come on trout board when I figure it out.

Way to go GT & sons! Keep in mind the kids fishing day in horseshoe lake in upper bidwell park is coming up soon. It's a mad house the day of the event, but a lot of fun, especially watching all the kids reel up the cat's/ They stock a ton of fish so the fishing is great the whole following month, and a lot less crowded.
