Why do some lakes have a no live minnow policy for fishing. it seems like they would almost want it because its free baitfish especially if the minnow somehow gets off your hook they got a free minnow. My best guess would be to prevent disease in the lake but other than that i dont see a danger to it. so does anybody know the rational behind it. The lakes that come to mind or Rollins, Rancho Seco, Mather and im sure their a bunch more.

Squid is correct. Preventing the introduction of species foreign to that body of water and bad juju. ;)
