My biggest was a 47 lb, 7 oz. Salmon caught 3 years ago in the Sacramento River. Does that count since it was caught in freshwater or do you mean a fish that strictly lives in freshwater?

I would think most people would say sturgeon then...but does that count as freshwater?

Biggest freshwater fish i ever caught was a 15 lbs carp. But then again the one i like to remember was an 8bls rainbow i caught quite some time ago.
Oh yea, and I'd say the biggest freshwater fish there is is the Blue Catfish.

the alligator gar ,do people fish for them or just bow hunt?there are alot of places in north america that they are found, but the only thing about fishing for them that i can find is bow hunting info.

They do fish for them... One way is to make a slip loop which leaves the hook and minnow suspended in the middle of it and put a big bobber a couple of feet above the loop. When the gar eats the minnow and starts swimming away the loop tightens down around its snout.
That's how they do it in Texas, lasso them! ;D ??? :o 8)

(My biggest was a 22.5 pound channel cat) So far... ;)
