Uggggggggg!

I heard that a sewer line was broken by a guy with a backhoe.

He will have to pay for the damaged sewer line repair, but what about all the nitrogen that got dumped into the lake?

Nitrogen (and phosphorus, sewage, no doubt, contains a certain amount of soap)- "bad" for clarity. Might actually start a bit of bloom, and that could, theoretically boost productivity briefly and locally- attracting fish...

Sinus or Dr.Stressor can probably confirm/deny this; but I think they closed the beaches to the danger of E. Coli to people.

That is correct. There is a health hazard for human disease transmission whenever sewage gets into swimming areas. The coli count is just a surrogate for the amount of fecal material in the water. They are really worried about pathological bacteria and viruses.

Yum Yum. I just lost my apetite for some seafood. Good thing Tahoe is so huge. The solution to pollution is dilution.
