I know I should probably post this on the "Outer Limits" board, but I thought you guys would enjoy these pics. I was in Rhode Island the first week of August visiting the in-laws and took an EPIC striper fishing trip out of Point Judith harbor. We fished near Block Island with Capt. Neil Vitullo aboard the "Played For It," which is a sweet 26 foot Glacier Bay catamaran. It was the best fishing of my life. Four of us caught limits, with the biggest going approximately 40 lbs. (I had a 40, 30 and 25 pounder.

The trip was an interesting learning experience. Capt. Neil would mark fish on the finder, and then swing back for a drift. Usually, if we hadn't hooked up in the first five minutes of a drift he was on to the next spot. Repeatedly, he would manuveur the boat among a few other boats and we would pull out fish and leave before anyone else hooked up - it was that kinda day. When I fish, I usually find a spot and camp. Of course when I fish i don't catch diddly squat....

Anyways, here is a pic of me (on the right) and my brother in law. Also a pic of my wife with a nice fish.

Thanks for the report, it is a whole 'nother game over there; I went a couple times back in te 90's and enjoyed it a great deal. Sounds like you had a great skipper, it makes all the difference.

Nice fish!

Whups, looks like I posted one of the pics twice (I have another with a box full o' fish).

BTW, we used live American Eel as bait. Spinning reel, light rod with typical striper leader - no weight. The eel dive to the bottom, so no weight required. Open spool presentation (line in left hand) and then when you get a bite you slam the spool closed and set the heck out of the hook. My sister-in-law lost three on wimpy hooksets. :-[ ;D

If you guys are ever back in RI, booking a striper charter to Block Island is WELL WORTH IT!

Sure, you'll know when it happens. I think Tammy, Shan myself and maybe even Carlo may go. Would be great to hang out with some of our East Coast brothers.
